Greetings!
This is very interesting! I had a wonderful opportunity to interview Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr. this past summer in Washington, DC during the time of the People Relief Fund Press Conference and Rally in June 2006 against FEMA about the extension of housing vouchers! Rev. Lennox, Jr. is a young passionate man of God with great purpose and destiny who is on fire for the rights of the Katrina Victims. It was so sad to go all the way to Washington, DC along with others to have the press conference and rally and there were not one representative from FEMA present. The Katrina victims came from Atlanta, Houston and New Orleans. It troubled me that America could be so compassionate but only for a season and then go back to business and forget about those who still who have not received money, housing, jobs or supplies.

I stumbled across this site looking for more information about Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Jr. I'm so glad to read the information that you had about hiphopcaucus.net. I never heard of the other site. It's too bad about James Rucker piggybacking on Rev. Yearwood, Jr. vision. There's something to be said about imitating others instead of just asking God what vision do you have for me?

this is james rucker. I accidently found this site while trying to resolve a dns problem. just to let you know, i helped rev yearwood, the founder of the hip hop caucus re-engage their online work. setting up hiphipcaucus.net was done to leave the existing site (.org) and infrastructure intact. you may not agree with our politics and views at colorofchange.org, but we are careful to thoroughly research everything we write and are about creating political change. we're working to make sure that futue katrina's don't happen and that elected officials work in the interest of all americans. also, there should have never been a bot trolling from mailer.hiphopcaucus.net. that's strange. that machine's been since reconfigured so if there was something running, it should be dead now.

So, perhaps their bot is scanning for more rant material. A bot that goes out and surfs for blog topics isn't that bad of an idea I guess... He seems to have the know-how to pull that off. I wonder what led them to my site. Up till this point I've tried to keep the site largely non-political. It is a distraction that hurts the mission to help people.

I've also decided not to look any more into the Color Of Change stuff. Other posts of pettitions and news letters that they've sent out are always on equaly narrow minded and often biggoted sites. I'm just gonna participate in my own little Stetson Kennedy Frown Campaign and disapprove of such base tactics.

Hey man, mailer.hiphopcaucus.net trolled through my site too.

The thing is that the referrers after the first hit - which was on a hate crimes issue (I blogged about the beating of gay performer Kevin Aviance (kind of weird how I have to qualify a beating with "the guy was gay" for it to count, right? But that's New York, I guess) - reflected behavior as if the visitor was clicking through the various tags on my site. Like someone reading, not like someone crawling. Although I'm not sure about that, since I'm not familiar with the technology involved. And they DID go through a surprising amount of content ...

Regarding ColorOfChange site. I won't pretend to have read it or want to, but being surrounded by high-headed liberal "progressives" here in NYC, I'll tell you that there are a LOT of people with that "you're with us or you're not worth my time" mentality. I think it's self-destructive, and ultimately people with more inclusive mindsets will achieve their ends, while the people who practice that sort of revenge-discrimination won't get done what they want to get done. In other words, that sort of "swallow my ideology or taste bitter contempt" mentality will breed itself out, Darwininan-style.

LOL - I kind of got drawn off topic there... But I was already bothered when it became apparent that that .net domain that had crawled me had been appropriated by someone that was not associated with the .org domain.

Then that ColorOfChange site just kind of got my goat. It's cached as something very helpful but is very much a "You're either one of us or you're not even worth talking to and we're gonna bring you down." sort of place.

Intellectually, that bothers me. I'm too much of an engineer to enjoy a site that demands you just turn off your brain beat the war drums with them. I'm already lathered up on the "selective enforcement" issues involved with the illegal immigrant debate. A "selective persecution" of corruption site doesn't help calm me down. ;)
