How to unlock your LG vx 5200, 6000, 8100, 9800
Ξ June 10th, 2006 | → | ∇ Verizon LG Phones |
One of the major problems I have with my vx5200 phone is that it takes hundreds of pictures of the inside of my pocket…
Right now I only have one solution for this: Lock the keypad.
However, I was expecting it to unlock by pressing Menu * like my old (I-didn’t-know-how-good-I-had-it-when-I-had-it) Nokia phone.
Now however, with the new Verizon menu system on all of their LG phones, my lg5200 did not unlock the same way… After trying all logical four digit number combinations I could think of in 15-20 minutes, (1234, 4321, 1111, 2222, 5432, 6543, 0000) I stopped and thought “OK - if it is not a number pattern, it is a specific number. What specific number is associated with this phone…”
Well the answer is obvious… The unlock code for Verizon phones is….
Drum roll please……..dddddddddddddddddddd
The answer is The last four digits of your phone number.

i need to know how to do it if you dont know your number like i just got the phone and i cant look at the info to find the number can you help me
on July 12th, 2006 at 3:55 pm
Chris: The word UNLOCK should appear on the bottom right side of your screen. Press the button below it.
Matt: If you just got the phone and forgot your own number after locking the phone, you can still hit *611 Send. That will take you into the Verizon customer service line. It does work with the phone locked.
Once they confirm your identity, they may be willing to provide you with your phone number. However, you should be aware that with the high number of stolen phones out there, you might have a hard time convincing them to do it… I recommend that you have your SS#, as well as the credit card number used when creating your Verizon account, when you make the call. Just be patient, calm and polite and you should prevail.

Thank You So Much!!! I Locked My Phone accidentally, and couldn’t figure it out
on July 18th, 2006 at 4:36 am
Actually it doesnt work like that ALL of the time. I promise you that. Im trying to figure out what my unlock code is. Mine, as well as many other peoples, will be different because if you have a Refurbished phone, or a replacement phone, its not brand new anymore, and already has a unlock code.
on July 25th, 2006 at 7:11 pm
what’s the lg vx8000 lock code? i got da phone from ebay therefore i don’t know the girl’s old number? it’s 4 digit’s. ????
thanks..
on July 25th, 2006 at 8:56 pm
Unfortunately, if you bought the phone used, you need to ask the original seller for the last four digits of their phone number. You can change it after that,,,
on July 26th, 2006 at 2:34 pm
Do a star 228 on it, and it will reset it to the last 4 digits of your phone number. Yay for slow moments of my brain. Call LG if that doesnt work. they are actually VERY helpfull.

Hello! I’ve got to be the dumbest smart person ever! I changed my lock code Monday night and then I turned around and forgot the new code! So my question to you is do you have a master over ride code or something so that I can by-pass going into the store??
on August 9th, 2006 at 3:28 pm
No, they keep a pretty tight leash on that information. Otherwise, the lock code would provide no real security. You might be able to fix it by doing a binary edit of the phone’s data using QPST or something like that, but that’s about the only thing I can think of that would fix it. If you do go to the store, see if you can look over their shoulder and then send me an email with how they fix it!
Good luck!
on August 9th, 2006 at 6:48 pm
hey-
that wasn’t a smart move, wasn’t it. I’ve ran into the same problem, but your going to need to enter the last 4 digits of your number. Call customer service, or go into the store. It could also be 0000, or 1234.
thanks.
on August 16th, 2006 at 1:27 am
You are a God. I wish they’d change the manual to reflect that. I had gone through about 1,000 combinations and thought for sure it’d be 0000 or last 4 SS digits or something similar.
on August 16th, 2006 at 9:39 am
“You are a God. I wish they’d change the manual to reflect that.”
Actually, they did, but I asked them to remove that section. Sometimes I’m too modest. Glad I could help!

I have a hand me down Nokia 5125 TracFone. I don’t know much about it except that the keypad is locked and is asking for the lock code. I don’t know the phones’ number so, I can’t sue that as a passcode. Any other suggestions?

Need help I own a Verizon Wireless LG VX7000 I cant remember the last 4 of my old number and I actually think I went in and set up my own lock code and forget that code also. I haven’t been a verizon customer for a long time because I kinda for got to pay the bill so is there anyway at all to unlock the phone
on November 12th, 2006 at 5:35 pm
I don’t think so. If you have lost the code, or never knew it, and you can have no contact with Verizon, I think you are out of luck. I don’t think you have a way to retreive the number.
on November 13th, 2006 at 7:17 pm
I have that same problem. My daughter forgot her passcode and now she can’t use her phone. Is there an easy solution???

on November 17th, 2006 at 8:56 pm
Tiffany, I think you’re in trouble.
Now, water doesn’t really cause damage to electronics. The contaminants in water do. So, depending upon what kind of “water” you dropped it in, you will have more or less problems. Chances are that your phone is just ruined.
If you are PATIENT, you can try something, but it is just as likely to break your phone worse as it is to fix it. If you’re gonna toss the phone anyway, it is worth a shot.
Buy a gallon of DISTILLED water from the grocery store. NOT spring water, but distilled water. Distilled water should be very pure. You then take the battery out of the phone and soak the phone (NOT THE SCREEN END) in the water. Swish it around a bit every now and then. If you can get the phone apart before hand, all the better. Then take the phone out and let it dry for two full days, shaking it now and then to get any built up water out. after two full days, and assuming you’ve shaken it well enough to dislodge any water trapped in puddles inside, you might just have a working phone again. But as I said, if you are not patient enough to let it evaporate, or if the minerals in the water you dropped it in spread to another area, you might end up frying it for good.
If it is under warranty, you might want to try that approach first…
Tom - did you try the last four digits of her phone number?

on January 4th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
so… my brother decided to change the lock code on my phone and forgot what he changed it to. Is there any friggen way to unlock it without going to a verizon store (closest is 2 hours away). Oh yeah the phone is a vx5200 and I DO have bitpim and a usb cord if that could somehow help. Thanks
on January 4th, 2007 at 5:52 pm
Hey all I found a new way to crack the unfourtante code. If you have a usb cord hook it up to your phone and then connect to bitpim (free to download from bitpim.org) and search for the phone. After you have connected, hit view on the top and select filesystem now look on the left toolbar and click on filesystem again.
Now, click on the folder and many folders will come up, click on the folder called nvm and then select nvm_0002 (atleast on my phone. when opened it has alot of jibberish but on the far right it has a seperate column. Look for the FIRST four digit number and try it - that was mine and after I entered it I changed it, hooked it back up and found it in the same spot.
So……. if you bought the phone refurbished or used, you can now get the security code to work for you to.

Thanks Ryan!!!
on January 5th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
Is there a way to reset settings while in lock mode? I dont have a data cord for this phone and am stuck in lock mode. No code I can possibly think of is working.
on January 5th, 2007 at 3:19 pm
Sam, as far as I have found there is no possible way. The best would be to purchase a cable off of ebay (I got mine for the 8100 etc) and they are like $20 shipped.
on January 7th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
mmmmmmmm, goood, very goood, BUT….. waht if i dont now the numer, cause i find a cell and it was already block…. now how can i get the number
on January 8th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
hey i got a LGizzle vx5200. i dont KnOw how to unlock it. i need you assistance. i forgot my unlock code and the phone has been inactive for a year. i dont have the previous cell number to get the last 4 digits. i would like to reactivate the phone but cant unlock it. is there a default code or some other way i can reset the password???
on January 9th, 2007 at 10:30 am
zerge if you are asking about how to get the security code - which I think you are- take the following steps above that I listed with using the program bitpim. The only other way I can think of is using another program that reads the phone programming and lets you read it or else enter in the 10,000 combinations
shaniqua same thing the only real thing to do is either find the old phone number and try that or else purchase a usb cable and use bitpim to read the programming of the phone until you find the security code

Thanks alot. I dont normally post this kind of thing, but apparently the idiot phone companies expect you to just know this for some reason…
I have been searching for a while now; you would think that it would be more common on the internet.
on February 22nd, 2007 at 4:42 pm
